What's the Worst That Can Happen?

Image
It’s funny how the feeling of relief that comes after the passing of a big event can evaporate once you find out the next big thing you have to prepare for. Through the course of our lives, there will be moments when we are forced to step up and work hard to accomplish our desired goals. Sometimes, we will emerge victorious. And other times, things will end up differently than what you had hoped for…    Whatever the outcome, it’s essential to not let yourself be consumed by the huge amounts of fear or nervousness that precedes this big event. If you find yourself incredibly overwhelmed and panicked about everything that you have to do and get ready for, then keep reading to find out what will help you relieve those thoughts and feelings…  1. Write It All Down   Thinking about everything you have to do or prepare for is going to make your brain go insane. Instead, write it all down on a notebook, sticky note, piece of paper, or (my personal favorite) on the Notes...

6 Small but Productive Things to do When You’re Feeling Lazy

Image
If you’ve been bored out of your mind and being lazy as humanly possible, DON’T WORRY! It happens… especially during “summer break”. These past two weeks, I’ve been so off my usual daily routine, and instead adopted a new schedule that consists of watching a lot more YouTube and Netflix. While taking it easy and giving yourself a break can be marvelous for your health, there’s a difference between that and continuous laziness. If you’ve been nonstop lazy and bored and unmotivated to do anything of value for at least a week, then it’s time to break out of that shell and start transitioning into a more productive lifestyle. I know that the mere thought of going back to the work mode can be dreadful, which is why I recommend trying these six small but productive things when you’re feeling lazy: 1. Stretching/Yoga Doing a quick stretching and/or yoga routine is a fun way to get your blood flowing and relieve any tension. Just find a spot on the floor and do whatever floats your boat. You c...

How to Start the School Year Strong: Set Yourself Up for Success

Image
The day when we finally return to school is just around the corner. I can imagine that some of you are anticipating going back, while others are dreading starting the new school year. Nevertheless, it’s imperative that you take the necessary actions to set yourself up for success. While the “back-to-school” time can be stressful and tedious, remember that all the preparation and organization will do you good in the long run. Because this is the first year where we don’t need backpacks (unless your school is doing in-person), we have to think outside the box about where to keep papers from different classes, school supplies, etc. For those of you who don’t have a clue of what to do, DON’T WORRY. There’s no right or wrong system for school. However, I have come up with a list of six things you should do to start the school year strong and set yourself up for success: 1. Grind through the Summer Assignments Summer assignments can be a pain in the butt to do. Trust me, I finally finished m...

Problems & Solutions

Image
Imagine everything is fine and the way it’s supposed to be…. then BOOM! There’s a problem. What do you do? Well, it’s easy. You try to solve the problem and put everything back together…. simple, right? While the concept of solving a problem is clear on the surface, there’s so much more that happens underneath. If you don’t understand, let me put in a different perspective. Let’s say we’re forced to solve for variable x in this math equation: x 2 - 5x + 9 = 0. On the surface of this problem, all we have to do is solve for x. But in reality, there are multiple steps and a process that requires some effort and concentration. Because you can’t factor this equation, we’re forced to use the quadratic formula, so let me do that really quick.  Ok, here: (5 ± √(-5) 2 - 4(1)(9)) / 2(1) = x Now let me simplify: (5 ± √-11) / 2 = x Ok, all done! See, it wasn’t too bad. Except for one tiny detail, which is that I didn’t get the solution. You’re all probably thinking something along the lines o...
